Biography
Mr Andreas Naparus is a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon based at 84 Harley Street and Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, London. He was trained at some of the most prestigious institutions in the world, and holds subspecialty expertise spanning aesthetic, reconstructive, craniofacial and paediatric plastic surgery.
Mr Naparus read Medicine and Neuroscience at Imperial College London, and completed his surgical training in Oxford. He subsequently undertook three specialist fellowships: a Microsurgical Research Fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children and University Health Network in Toronto, Canada; a Cleft, Craniofacial and Paediatric Fellowship at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London; and an Adult Craniofacial Fellowship at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, London.
He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London, and serves as Resident Lead for Plastic Surgery at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He holds a Masters in Executive Medical Leadership (EMML) and is deeply committed to surgical education, clinical research and quality improvement.
Known for his calm, gentle approach — particularly with children and patients undergoing procedures under local anaesthetic — Mr Naparus combines meticulous technical precision with honest, unhurried clinical care. He is conversant in six languages, and welcomes patients referred from embassies and international healthcare providers.
Research Background
Mr Naparus's academic work has spanned neuroscience and microsurgery. His research into human mesenchymal stem cells examined how these cells might support brain recovery following hypoxic injury — work that contributes to the wider understanding of how the brain repairs itself after a period of oxygen deprivation.
During his Microsurgical Research Fellowship, he studied how to prolong muscle viability for procedures such as face transplantation and limb replantation, and defined novel pharmacological targets for preconditioning muscle tissue against injury, reducing cell death by 40% in this work. His findings were presented internationally and published in the peer-reviewed literature.
This research background continues to shape his clinical practice today. The same meticulous, evidence-based habit of mind required to design and interpret a research study is applied at every consultation — scrutinising the evidence behind a technique, being honest about what is and is not proven, and choosing the right treatment for each patient on that basis, rather than defaulting to what is fashionable or most commonly offered.
